Young County Rodeo to return this week with three days of events

The United Professional Rodeo Association returns to the Young County Arena this weekend. The 20th annual Knights of Columbus Young County Rodeo will take place March 18-20 with participants competing in nine events over the three-day event.

The rodeo returns to its regularly-scheduled weekend after last year’s COVID-19 postponement. Last year’s event was among the first sporting events in the country after a nation-wide halt due to the pandemic. The 2020 Young County Rodeo was the fifth-highest paying rodeo on the UPRA circuit.Tickets for this year’s rodeo are available for an advanced rate of $10 online at ycrodeo.com. Children 12 and under will have free admission with a paying adult.

The events taking place at this year’s rodeo will be Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Breakaway Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie-Down, Ranch Bronc Riding, Team Roping, Barrel Racing And Bull Riding. Graham will be represented by Todd Danley in tie-down, Allison Danley in breakaway roping and Briley Reeves in barrel racing. Newcastle’s Rylee Hardin will compete in barrel racing. Jeff Hilton, of Olney, will team with Jace Bland, from Turkey, Texas, in team roping.
