Audra Barrett will be making the move from Woodland Elementary School to Graham Junior High School after the Graham ISD Board of Trustees approved her appointment.
Former GJHS Principal Sam Perry closed out six years with the district Friday, April 25 and moved onto a new role as assistant superintendent of Eustace ISD.
The school board came out of executive session Wednesday, May 14 and approved the hiring of Barrett for the principal position.
For the last seven years, Barrett has served as the principal of the Woodland campus. She has also previously served as the assistant principal at GJHS.
While she has served at Woodland for seven years, Barrett has served in public education for 24 years. She began her career in education at Graham High School and GJHS as a Spanish teacher.
Barrett received a Bachelor of Arts from Midwestern State University. From Western Governors University she received her Master of Education degree in Learning and Technology, Master of Science in Education Leadership and Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction.
Some other areas of experience from Barrett include being a member of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association and the Region 9 Secretary for 2025-2026 for the organization. She is also a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators.
Following the end of her contract in July, Barrett will start in the new role for the district and continue providing leadership.
No decision has been made regarding a new Woodland principal.
