Ex-GISD aide pleads guilty, sentenced in sexual assault case
editor@grahamleader.com
Former Graham Junior High teacher’s aide Allison Amber Oliver pleaded guilty to three felony counts of sexual assault of a child in a Stephens County courtroom Monday. A jury was in the process of deciding sentencing as Wednesday's print edition of the Graham Leader went to press Tuesday. Late Tuesday afternoon, the jury sentenced Oliver to 180 days in county jail and 10 years' probation on each count. Oliver, 37, was arrested in January after accusations she’d had a sexual relationship with an eighth-grade student in July and August of 2015. She was released on $50,000 bond. Oliver, who had worked for the district since 2009, was fired in October. The Young County district attorney recused herself from prosecuting the case over a conflict of interest. A special prosecutor was appointed to try Oliver, and the trial began with jury selection Monday in Breckenridge after Oliver was granted a change of venue in early August. The Leader will have more on this story in Saturday’s edition of the paper.
