(ARCHIVE PHOTO | THE GRAHAM LEADER) The candidate filing period for the May election is open through Friday, Feb. 13 at entities across Young County. Applications for open positions can be obtained at each county entity.
The filling period has opened for candidates seeking to run for Young County seats up for election in May.
The filing period opened Wednesday, Jan. 14 and will run through Friday, Feb. 13. The last day to file a declaration of write-in candidacy will be Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Candidate applications can be obtained and submitted for the May election from each separate county entity. Each entity has until Feb. 13 to order a general election or special election on a measure, such as a bond election.
Early voting in the May election will run from April 20-28 and election day will be Saturday, May 2. The last day to register to vote in the May election will be Thursday, April 2 and the last day to apply for a ballot by mail will be Monday, April 20.
