After his resignation on Feb. 25, former Graham hospital board member Michael Carmichael released a statement regarding his decision on Wednesday.

“My resignation from the Graham Regional Medical Center board had been in discussion with President (Wyatt) Pettus since January, 2019,” Carmichael wrote. “The hospital is doing much better than it was four years ago. It is stronger because our hospital, community and board came together to pray and do what we could for our hospital.”

Carmichael added another term for him meant three more years on the board putting his time served to seven years on the board, which he said can become stagnating. He said he will direct his time and energy to his son Kolton, daughter Zoe, wife Kelly and his business.
