Carmichael resigns, Overton named to hospital board

After choosing not to run for reelection, Michael Carmichael sent his letter of resignation from the Graham Hospital District Board of Directors on Feb. 25. During the Tuesday, March 19 board meeting, the board voted to have Sylvia Overton fill Carmichael’s unexpired term.
“I hope to accomplish a better rapport between the community and the hospital,” Overton said. “Bring them closer together and let them know they can trust each other. Without the hospital, this community would not be. I want to provide an atmosphere of quality and concern of our hospital to our community and vice versa.”
Carmichael was previously not present for the Feb. 19 board meeting and a reason for his resignation was not given. Carmichael was elected to the board in May of 2015. Attempts made to contact Carmichael were unsuccessful.
