Editor's Note: On Friday, Feb. 28, City Manager Brandon Anderson released an updated public notice stating the city is working on finding a storage system to allow Spivey Hill residents to have water during the repair. The details will be announced during the next city council meeting on Thursday, March 5.

The city of Graham is scheduling repairs for their main water line into the city for March 9 in an effort to stop a leak to the line on Hwy. 16. As a part of the process, the city is asking residents to conserve water use.

City Manager Brandon Anderson released a public notice about the project on Monday and spoke on the topic during the Thursday, Feb. 22 city council meeting. The repair will be made on the 24-inch cast iron line to town which will be replaced with a PVC C900/c905 24-inch line, according to Graham Director of Public Works Randall Dawson. Anderson said in the notice that final call for the repairs will be made next week at the Thursday, March 5 city council meeting.

“At our next council meeting, as long as we still have this date set to do this project, we will be asking the city council to enact an emergency water conservation timeframe,” Anderson said in the Feb. 20 meeting. “And the reason we are doing this, is we have had a leak, and if you go out on (Hwy.) 61 towards the (Graham) country club or towards Lake Graham, you have probably noticed that leak in our main 24-inch line that comes to town. We have had it a while, but it continues to worsen.”
