The Graham City Council last week approved several items to move forward with the Texas Street waterline replacement project. The council approved a bid from Bowles Construction Company, along with a budget increase of $85,000 for the project.

The Texas Street project is one of a series for maintenance and improvement of the city water distribution infrastructure. The project will be a 50/50 split between the city and the Texas Community Block Grant awarded to the city.

The city opened bids for the project Wednesday, Dec. 7, with the base bid including the replacement of approximately 4,300 linear feet of 6-inch waterline. The bid also included fire hydrants, service reconnects, bores, water line connections, valves and pavement repair. Four bids were received by the city.

“The low base bid was $588,165, which was received from Bowles Construction Company in Wichita Falls, Texas. They were the low bidder and were recommended for the selected bidder,” City Manager Eric Garretty said. “Just as a reminder, we are (...) emplacing a little over 4,300 feet of water line along the segment. (Our engineers) Jacob & Martin also recommended selection of the low bidder.”

The city also received bids of $1,071,239.60 from B&L Construction Company, $859,772.10 from R Construction Civil, and $672,086.20 from RNO Construction, LLC.
