The city of Graham is working with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to find and remove a wild hog that has been seen in the residential area near Pine Tree Road and Westwood Drive.
For the past two weeks, the city’s animal control and Graham Police Department have worked with TPWD to respond to reports of a single wild hog seen multiple times in the residential area.
“Citizens are advised not to approach the hog or any wild animals inside the city. Sightings should be reported to the Young County dispatch at 940-549-1212,” City Manager Eric Garretty said in a release.
The city stated that there were unconfirmed reports of minors being chased by a wild hog. Officers were dispatched to the area and were unable to locate the hog, but were able to locate minors who said they had not seen or been chased by a hog.
“Multiple agencies are working to remove the animal from the area. Specifically, the city of Graham is working with the TPWD trapper to capture and remove the hog,” Garretty said. “Citizens are reminded that, per city ordinance, the discharge of a fireman inside the city limits is a misdemeanor.”
The city manager said state law also prohibits non-law enforcement personnel from firing weapons in the direction of occupied housing.
“We ask for everyone’s patience as we work toward a safe solution to remove the animal from the area,” Garretty said.
