Out of the $50,000 in Hotel Occupancy Taxes collected, $510 was approved to create a set of plans and three dimensional renderings illustrating the proposed remodel, cabinetry and design layout of the museum at Fort Belknap.

“I included a proposal, (to) get a draft sketch of the museum at Fort Belknap done electronically,” Graham Chamber of Commerce and Conventions and Visitor Bureau CEO Krisa De La Cruz said. “That way when we’re looking at doing the renovations of the museum, we will have a solid electronic version of the layout, and we can provide that to potential contractors.”

She added it is important to get this done because each time their vision is described to a contractor they each imagine something different. The new renderings will have the current and proposed renovated museum created electronically for others to compare.

The Young County commissioners passed a resolution in December 2017 establishing a Hotel Occupancy Tax of 5 % in all incorporated areas to continue indefinitely after Jan. 1, 2018 unless voted down by a majority of the Commissioners Court.
