The Young County Commissioners Court discussed many items for the Young County Sheriff’s Office and Jail during their regularly held meeting on Monday, March 11.

During the meeting, Cheryl Roberts, Young County Auditor, brought up the need to replace the electronic door lock system for the Young County Sheriff’s Office and Jail administration area of the Law Enforcement Center.

She said using Johnson Controls, of Fort Worth, will cost the county about $12,000 to replace the electronic key system which allows access into the building through five doors, a gate and a sallyport.

“It’s not secure (right now), all of the parts are outdated and we are having problems finding parts for it,” Young County Sheriff Travis Babcock said. “We are having J&J Electric come over and repair them as much as they can. But, that is just putting a band-aid on it.”
