Young County on Monday approved the transfer of the Young County Agricultural Activity Center (the Old Ag Barn) located at Fireman’s Park to the city of Graham due to a request by the city to obtain possession of the property.

The item was originally proposed by Precinct 4 Commissioner Jimmy Wiley during a July 9 meeting of the Young County Commissioners Court. The city of Graham met on Thursday, Aug. 9 to give the commissioners approval to provide the city with a quitclaim of interest to transfer the property which the commissioners approved on Monday, Aug. 13.

“It is in the proximity of the park and the baseball fields and I think a spruce up on that building would be good,” City Manager Brandon Anderson said during the Aug. 9 meeting. “If we complete this trade we can take that to the parks (and recreation) board and see if they can use that in any way with where they at, the timing is pretty appropriate.”
