Young County wrapped up early voting Friday, Feb. 28 which saw a record number of voters come out, but the county still wants the community to be prepared for election day.

After nearly one week of early voting last week, Lauren Sullivan, the Young County Elections Administrator, said around 400 votes had been cast. As of Thursday morning, Sullivan stated that 1,253 voters have voted out of 11,631 registered voters.

“As of yesterday (Wednesday, Feb. 26) afternoon when we left, we are surpassing the 2016 number by about 25%-27%,” Sullivan said. “And 2016 had 40% voter turnout, which was the biggest in quite a while. We are way ahead of where we were.”
