The Desk and Derrick Club of Graham presented a $1,000 scholarship to recent Graham High School graduate Hayden Husen during their monthly meeting Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Husen graduated from GHS in May where he served as class president, competed on the speech and debate team, competed in the National Technological Student Association and on the Steers basketball team. Husen will be headed to the University of North Texas.

The club will also continue their $1,000 scholarships with former recipients Cristal Sanchez who is attending the University of North Texas, Conner Wolfe who is attending Oklahoma State University and Jeb Curry.

According to club director Judy Kinser, the club has their major fundraiser which is a golf tournament at Split Rail Links and Golf Club in Aledo each year with this year’s tournament being held on Sept. 13. The tournament helps fund the scholarships which are given out to graduating high school seniors from the area.
