Tue, 08/22/2017 - 2:47 pm
The Texas Department of Public Safety seized more than 4 pounds of methamphetamine, 16 grams of cocaine and 11 grams of marijuana Tuesday after a Texas Highway Patrol trooper conducted a traffic stop in Jack County. At approximately 12:45 p.m. Aug. 15, a DPS trooper stopped a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe, traveling north on U.S. 281 near Jacksboro, for a traffic violation. After the trooper discovered a baggie of marijuana in the driver’s possession, the suspect jumped back into the Tahoe and fled the scene, evading arrest in his vehicle. The suspect, Jessie Tyrone Stafford of Wichita Falls, allegedly threw several bundles of methamphetamine and one bag of cocaine from his vehicle before coming to a stop on FM 175. The illegal drugs, worth approximately $370,000, were recovered. Stafford, 32, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony evading arrest with a motor vehicle. He was transported and booked into the Jack County Jail. The drugs were allegedly being transported from Fort Worth to Wichita Falls, the DPS said.
