Early start for new sheriff

Young County Judge John Bullock gives the oath of office to Travis Babcock who will serve as interim Young County Sheriff until Jan. 1. The previous sheriff, Bryan Walls, retired on Halloween (before his term expired in January), so the Young County Commissioners Court voted to have Babcock fill the rest of Walls’ term. Currently Babcock is unopposed for the office of sheriff, and so, has been declared elected.
