Early voting will end Friday, Nov. 4 at North Central Texas College and the Olney Community Library, and voter turnouts have been higher than at the same time in 2012. Voting times are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at NCTC and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Olney Community Library. Despite a rocky start to the election in Young County when voting machines lost power, Young County Elections Administrator Lauren Sullivan said that things have smoothed out since then. “After that first couple of days with the power outage and trying to get everyone to understand how to use the machines, we haven’t had any problems. It’s just re-educating voters every time we have an election as to how to work the wheel and the enter button and that sort of thing,” Sullivan said. A total of 3,949 residents cast their votes in Young County as of Monday morning. That’s an increase from the 2012 election during the same time, Sullivan said. A total of 2,879 early votes were cast going into the second week of early voting in 2012 and early voting ended with a total of 4,745 ballots cast, which Sullivan said the county is on track to beat in this election.
