Early voting totals low for amendment election

Voter turnout was low county-wide for the first day of early voting in the Nov. 5 Constitutional Amendment Election.

Young County is hosting early voting for the Constitutional Amendment Election this week and next week at two locations. As of Monday, a total of 25 voters had voted early in the election, according to Young County Elections Administrator Lauren Sullivan.

Young County has no local elections on the ballot, but will have the 10 ballot measures approved in the 86th Legislative Session.

The last day to register to vote was Monday, Oct. 7. Early voting will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, through Friday, Oct. 25, and Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1. The early voting locations are Olney Community Library, 807 W. Hamilton St. and North Central Texas College, 928 Cherry St.

The last day to apply for ballot by mail, received not postmarked, is Friday, Oct. 25, and the last day to receive ballot by mail is Tuesday, Nov. 5 by 7 p.m.

Election day will have voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 at five locations. The voting locations on election day will be Olney Community Library, 807 W. Hamilton St., North Central Texas College, 928 Cherry St, Newcastle City Hall, 608 Broadway Ave., Loving Fire Department and Graham First United Methodist Church, 700 Third St.
