The Graham City Council Thursday appointed former Graham City Manager Larry Fields to serve in the position of interim city manager following the June 15 departure of Brandon Anderson from the position.

The council met Thursday, June 23 for a regular meeting and appointed Fields to serve in the position for a period of 90 days.

Fields previously served as the city manager in Panhandle from 1972-1975, Abernathy from 1975-1979 and in Graham from 1980-2014, according to the Texas Municipal League. Fields retired from his position as Graham City Manager on April 2, 2014, and was succeeded by David Casteel.

Fields was approved for a three-month contract with the city to serve as interim city manager March 26, 2015, following the departure of Casteel to work as a consultant for a company contracted with the Texas Department of Transportation. Fields served as the interim city manager until the hiring of Anderson in April 2015. The Graham City Council Thursday, April 13 approved Mayor Neal Blanton to execute an agreement with Strategic Government Resources to search for a new city manager. The council also approved the resignation of Anderson who accepted a city manager position in Levelland.
