Five days left to file for March 2020 primaries

There are five days left to file to be on the ballot for the March 2020 primaries.

According to Elections Administrator Lauren Sullivan, Young County offices up for election are the Young County Sheriff, Young County Attorney, Young County Commissioner Pct. 1, Young County Commissioner Pct. 3, Young County Constable Pct. 1, Young County Constable Pct. 3, Young County Tax Assessor-Collector, 90th Judicial District Attorney and 90th Judicial District Judge.

Candidate filing for the March 3, 2020 Primary Election opened Saturday, Nov. 9 and will run through Dec. 9. To file, candidates should contact the chairperson of the party of their choice.

The Young County Republican Party Chairman is Kyle Milam. He can be contacted by phone at 940-550-5211.

Republicans challenging for a seat are Stacy Creswell for Precinct 1 County Commissioner and Scott ‘Scooter’ Philipp for Precinct 3 County Commissioner.

The Young County Democratic Party Chairman is Fran Edens who can be contacted via email at frannie3@hotmail.com, or by phone at 940-549-7024.

According to Edens, no Democrats have announced their candidacy for a local seat as of Friday, Nov. 22.
