Florida man arrested for money laundering

More than $38,000 in cash was seized Tuesday by the Texas Department of Public Safety near Graham as part of a traffic stop which led to an arrest.

Rodolfo Expedito Fernandez, 33, of Florida, was arrested and charged with money laundering over $30,000, possession of marijuana under two ounces and driving while license invalid.

A Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Fernandez,  traveling north on Hwy. 16 for a traffic violation at approximately 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27. The trooper discovered several bundles of cash in the rear floorboards of the vehicle.

TxDPS Special Agents, Young County Sheriff’s Office and Graham Police Department responded to assist with the investigation.

Fernandez was booked into the Young County Jail on the three charges on $30,000 bond and was released Thursday, Feb. 29.
