Over 40 food trucks will line the downtown square Saturday, all vying for the $10,000 grand prize during the seventh annual Food Truck Championship of Texas. The championship invites food trucks to Graham to compete for a number of cash prizes and the opportunity to sell to the thousands of residents and visitors who attend the event each year.

The championship will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4  on the Graham downtown square. During the food truck event, nine awards will be given at the end of the day, which are a $2,500 award for Best Signature Dish and $500 awards for Best Truck Theme and Design, Best Food Truck Spirit, Best International Dish, Best American Cuisine, Most Unique Menu, Best BBQ and Best Dessert. Only one prize is awarded per truck with professional judges selecting the winners for each category.

The night before the Food Truck Championship of Texas on Friday, June 3, the Graham Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Shop Local Late event on the downtown square and will have a number of food trucks available.

“The chamber is super excited about Friday night before (the) food truck (event), because it will be a Shop Local Late night and the stores will be open, and a lot of them will be having some refreshments or sales going on. So we’re really excited about that and the food trucks that will be set up already (on Friday night). The Masons are going to come down and be cooking sausage too as a fundraiser and we have music on Friday night this year. Just an acoustic set by Ross Shifflett is going to come down and play. It should be a local favorite and draw people down,” Graham Chamber of Commerce and CVB CEO Cathy Partridge said in a previous interview. “(...) Friday night’s a good promotion for the families who really want to try some of the food at the food truck (event). The lines are shorter, it’s a good family time (to) bring a blanket, come sit on the square (and) listen to just the acoustic set of music. It will be a lot more laid back. So we’re really excited about that."
