(THOMAS WALLNER | THE GRAHAM LEADER) Students at Fort Belknap Days education day in 2017 huddle around a fire with a reenactor at Fort Belknap. Fort Belknap will be hosting three events in October starting with their sixth annual Fort Belknap Days, a living history event held for area schools and the public. The fort will additionally be hosting the Fort Belknap Living History Association fundraiser ‘Mild, Mild West’ as well as a new event called Fright at the Fort at the end of October.

Fort Belknap Days is a living history event with 19th century demonstrations where students from area schools can visit and walk among soldiers, witness cannon demonstrations and experience the fort in the 1850s.

“This is our sixth year to do this so we’re really excited about it because we weren’t able to do a big one last year. We had a few things set up, but I’m really excited to be able to start this back up again,” Fort Belknap Director Jim Hammond said. “I know we have some of our living historians from around the state that aren’t going to come because they are still worried about (COVID-19) and everything, but I do have a good group that is coming and we’ve already had a couple of new schools call and want to come out there.”
