Keep Graham Beautiful’s annual Spring Clean-Up event for the city of Graham is around the corner, starting Saturday, April 1, and continuing through April 9. A kickoff event for the cleanup is scheduled for April 1 at 8:30 a.m. on the Downtown Square with members of the KGB assisting. The Litter Buggy vehicles, which are two green Jeeps without a side door that allow for easy trash pick-up, will be on site and around town assisting. Volunteers from multiple organizations will be around the city donating their time as well, KGB President J.W. Budge said. “We have the, I believe, the Breakfast Lions Club, we have the (Kiwanis) Aktion Club and we have the leaders group from the chamber of commerce, that have all volunteered to assist us in the street cleanup as well as down at the square,” he said. “ So we have got more help this year as it relates to helping Graham clean up this day.” Convenience During the Spring Cleanup and Fall Brush-Up programs by the Keep Graham Beautiful organization, the City of Graham’s convenience station allows free residential dumping of general refuse beyond the normal 6-cubic-yard limit. That does not include household garbage, business refuse or food items. The city convenience station, 1421 Ave. F, will be open for special extended hours during the clean-up the event and will be open daily for bulk disposal. Budge said the litter buggy vehicles will be around town picking up the full trash bags by each group of volunteers. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
