The Graham High School Class of 2020 will have a unique opportunity to leave their artistic talents on Graham as the Graham Public Art Committee (GPAC) presents Paint the Park, allowing seniors to enter to paint the 11 Shawnee Park picnic tables.

Grant Ingram, Manager of the Graham Convention and Visitors Bureau, said GPAC wanted to allow the seniors to showcase themselves and their talents.

“The Paint the Park project is being presented by the Graham Public Art Committee (GPAC) which is a new committee dedicated to expanding the murals and public art in Graham,” Ingram said. “The idea behind this project is to create a fun and lasting way for our 2020 GHS Seniors to leave their mark on Graham during this unprecedented time.”

As a committee, Ingram said they were thinking of ways to add some art to certain areas in Graham, but also wanted to honor the Class of 2020 in the process.

“During our most recent committee meeting, we were exploring possibilities to bring life and color to our town in unique ways, and the idea to incorporate our graduating seniors was born,” Ingram said. “Our seniors have faced tremendous adversity during their final year of high school, and we want to ensure they know how much we appreciate and support each and every one of them.”

The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Monday, May 11. Designs can be submitted to Grant@grahamtexas.org.
