In January Graham ISD partnered with the Graham Public Education Foundation to honor 14 alumni in their new Hall of Honor program, and are looking again to honor staff and community members who have provided meritorious service to the district and/or their profession. The program was approved last year at a GISD school board meeting on Sept. 13. Nominations for the second group of honorees will be accepted through Wednesday, June 27. The application packet is available at on the GISD Facebook page and a copy can be picked up at the Graham ISD administration office. “Hopefully from this point forward we will just be doing a Fall Hall of Honor induction and my goal is to attach it to the Homecoming football game and that kind of thing and do it that evening,” GISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse said. “It will be a cram-packed evening, but it would be a very good crowd to bring to the stadium.” GPEF is a non-profit organization that gives funding to the district outside of the budget through a grant application process and obtains money through donations and fundraising events such as Kitchen Crawl. The board for GPEF, with members of the school district administration, review the requests and choose grants that are available to fund and would make an impact. Submit the nomination form and any supporting documents postmarked by Wednesday, June 27, to: GPEF Hall of Honor Program, Graham ISD, 400 Third Street, Graham, TX 76450, Attn: Sonny Cruse, Superintendent of Schools. Incomplete nomination packets will not be considered. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
