The Graham ISD school board approved a calendar for the 2020-2021 school out of two options determined by the calendar committee.

The council approved Version 6 of the calendar drafted by the committee. GISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse said the calendar was one of many potential options.
“There was about seven or eight draft calendars that the calendar committee set on,” Cruse said. “They settled on version six and seven and if you looked at them there is not a lot of difference between six and seven.”

The district put a form online for responses from staff and parents/guardians regarding the calendars and Cruse said the response was higher than usual.

“We got more response from the votes than we normally get which is a good thing,” Cruse said. “On the staff vote, we had 98 responses, 58% of those were Version 6 and 41.8% were Version 7. On the parent, guardian vote that we put out there we had 244 responses, 79.1% for Version 6 and 20.9 for Version 7.”
Important Dates

Under the approved calendar, school will start on Aug. 24 and kindergarten through fifth grade parent conferences will be held on Sept. 21. The Thanksgiving holiday will run Nov. 23-27 and STAAR EOC at Graham High School will be held Dec. 8-11.
