The Graham Independent School District board approved a vendor for the construction of a greenhouse at Graham High School on Wednesday.

GISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse said last year when the campus made changes with their agriculture teachers, they hired Lauren Lange for horticulture and floral design. Lange had a baby and Cruise intentionally held off purchasing a greenhouse in case she made the decision to be a stay at home mother, which would leave the school with a greenhouse, but no teacher for it.

The superintendent said this was not the case, and she will be returning to Graham High School. The district set aside $60,000 when developing the 2018-2019 budget for the project and Cruse presented proposals from local vendors for the project on Wednesday.

“I have met with three different vendors that are here locally to help build this greenhouse,” Cruse said. “We are going to build it on the lot right across from the field house where we bought and tore that house down is where it is going to go.”
