Graham ISD will honor all those who served during a Veterans Day ceremony hosted at Newton Field. The event will encompass separate honor programs from students from multiple campuses within the Graham school district.

Last year, the program moved from its traditional location at Graham Memorial Auditorium to Newton Field at Graham High School. The ceremony will be open to the public at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, and has served as a local pastime for the community.

“This started several years ago when Greg Milton was the principal here and he was a veteran and so that’s something that was really near and dear to his heart. And so that started with him and we’ve just continued on the tradition because we think it’s important to honor our veterans and to help our students have a sense of how important it is to serve your country,” Pioneer Elementary School Principal Donna Gatlin said.

The location of the event was moved last year due to COVID-19 precautions and to accommodate more students to attend the program. Gatlin said the location this year returned to Newton Field to continue to give more students the opportunity to attend the service.
