GISD makes 2020-2021 budget, tax rate proposal
The Graham ISD Board of Trustees reviewed the proposed budget and tax rate Wednesday and accepted them for adoption during a set Aug. 28 public hearing and board meeting. The board approved the proposed tax rate which will remain unchanged from last year’s rate.
Last year, the board approved a tax rate of $1.277 per $100 valuation which was the lowest rate approved from the board after remaining at $1.347 per $100 valuation since 2013. The board is proposing the same lowered rate from last year this year.
The proposed total budget will be an increase of $197,897 over last year’s budget, going from $24,452,013 in the 2019-2020 budget to $24,649,910 in the 2020-2021 budget. Those expenditures are $4,485 in the Athletic Fund, $131,284 in the General Fund, $49,343 in the Food Service Fund and $12,785 in the Debt Service Fund.
“So the budget increased from ($24,452,013) to ($24,649,910) that’s .65% is what that is. Most of the time the budget goes up 2-3%,” Assistant Superintendent/Financial Director Don Davis said.
