GISD OKs same tax rate, new budget

The Graham Independent School District approved a tax rate unchanged from their last four year’s actual total tax rate of 1.347 cents per $100 valuation, and a budget of $22,741,613. A public meeting was held at the GISD Administrative Office Building early Wednesday to discuss the school district’s budget and determine the tax rate to be adopted. The district’s budget total in comparison with the 2016-17 budget is a difference of approximately $522,134. The revenues for the district come from local and intermediate sources which made up $9,241,873 of the revenue and state program revenues which made up the remaining $13,499,740. The large expenditures for the district are $11,198,278 for instruction, $2,508,518 to pay debt service, $2,453,577 for plant operations and $1,133,900 for school leadership, which make up $17,294,273 of the total budget.
