Graham Independent School District has released two calendar options for the 2019-2020 school year allowing the community to vote on their preference.

“The district calendar committee, which is comprised of staff, parents and community members, always build several draft calendars,” GISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse said. “Then we look at them and get some feedback from the campuses and narrow it down to two. After that we send it out to staff and parents for a vote.”

Cruse said the major differences between the two proposed calendars are the last day of school and amount of staff development days.

One proposed calendar has teacher workdays beginning on Aug. 8 and last day of school of May 28, 2019 and graduation May 29. While the other calendar has teacher workdays beginning on Aug. 7 and the last day of school and graduation on May 22,2019 and more staff development days from May 26 to 28.

Both calendars have school starting on Aug. 14, Thanksgiving Break from Nov. 25 through 29, Holiday Break from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, Spring Break from March 16 through 20 and two bad weather days built in.
