Following 10 years of service as principal of Graham High School, Joe Gordy will be moving into a role to continue serving students across the district as the Graham ISD Chief of Student Services.
Gordy will be filling a role which is held by Natalie Husen who is serving as the GISD Director of Special Populations and Federal Programs.
The school board came out of executive session Wednesday, May 14 and approved the hiring of Gordy for the position. He will exit his former post as GHS principal as he looks to the future of GISD.
The position will encompass several departments that support students, such as special education and Section 504, which ensures students with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities.
He will additionally be overseeing the counseling and safety and security of the district.
Gordy has a total of 28 years in education and before serving 10 years as the principal of GHS, he served as the Graham Junior High School principal for six years. He additionally served as the principal of Woodland Elementary School, the assistant principal for GJHS and taught science at GJHS.
He received his Master of Educational Administration from Midwestern State University and his Superintendent Certification from The University of Texas at Tyler. His educational journey began at Bronte ISD before coming to GISD.
Following the end of his contract in July, Gordy will start in the new role for the district and continue to serve students across the district.
No decision has been made regarding hiring a new GHS principal, as the school year comes to a close next week for GISD.
