The Graham Public Education Foundation on Friday presented 12 grants in the amount of $54,715.21 to teachers from Crestview Elementary, Woodland Elementary, Graham Junior High School and Graham High School. GPEF is a nonprofit organization that provides funding to the district outside of the budget through a grant application process and obtains money through donations and fundraising events such as Kitchen Crawl. The board for GPEF, with members of the school district administration, review the requests and choose grants that are available to fund and would make an impact. The GPEF group consisting of President Angie Graham and members Jennifer Coley, Bronwen Choate, Jayne Beale, Susie White, Wyatt Pettus, Sara McCall, Suzy Graham and Mark Thayer, loaded up early in a bus Friday to surprise each teacher with the grants they would be receiving. Joining the group was GISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse, GISD Director of Curriculum Gary Browning and Special Education Director Colleen Netterville.
