The Graham Public Education Foundation endowment fund, which was announced October 2019, recently received $2.6 million according to Graham ISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse. GPEF announced their fund with matching grant announcements in 2019 and set a goal of $3 million for the fund in December 2019.

GPEF was established as a nonprofit organization in October 2010 by an action of the Graham ISD board of trustees, according to information from GPEF. The organization operates independently from the district, but in cooperation.

GPEF provides funding to the district, outside of the budget, through a grant application process and obtains money through donations and fundraising events such as the Kitchen Crawl. The board for GPEF, with members of the school district administration, review the requests and choose grants that would make an impact. Cruse, who serves as the GISD liaison for the organization, said Wednesday during a regular school board meeting that the endowment fund has taken off since its initial announcement in 2019.
