Graham FFA is seeking support to assist those in Texas impacted by the recent flooding by collecting gift cards for families.

The local FFA chapter is hosting a flood relief gift card drive through Sunday, July 20 with the hope of helping families one card at a time. 

The local organization is accepting gift cards to the retailers H-E-B, Walmart, Lowe’s Home Improvement and Home Depot as well as prepaid cards for gas stations and Visa and Mastercards.

Graham FFA is accepting card donations at J&N Feed and Seed, The 4Fifty Nutrition & Energy, Weatherbee Real Estate, or by scheduling a pickup time by calling 940-456-3773. 

As of Monday, flash flooding continued to impact Central Texas and the Hill Country.

Widespread flooding beginning Monday, July 2, impacted portions of the Concho Valley, Hill Country and Central Texas regions. 

President Donald Trump approved a federal disaster declaration Sunday, July 6 for Texas to supplement recovery efforts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Kerr County which was impacted by severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding this month.

As of Sunday, July 6 the state had deployed over 1,500 personnel and more than 925 vehicles and equipment assets to the Texas Hill Country, with more than 20 state agencies responding to flood threats statewide.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management deployed emergency response resources across the state and supported recovery efforts.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has sent in rescue boat teams and helicopters with hoist capability to assist with flood rescues. 

Helicopters and the Tactical Marine Unit have also been deployed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
During a press conference Sunday, Gov. Greg Abbott emphasized caution for state residents as heavy rainfall could lead to potential flash flooding in large portions of the state.
