It was a banner year for the Graham FFA program at the Texas FFA Station Convention, with students receiving FFA Lone Star Degrees, top scholarships and state awards.
Graham FFA members Kimber Pratt and Brazier Joy earned their FFA Lone Star Degrees during the Texas FFA Station Convention held Monday, June 30 through Friday, July 4 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
The Lone Star FFA Degree is the highest degree bestowed by the Texas FFA.
Recipients must have been active FFA members for at least two years and completed at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level.
The degree recipients must also have maintained a supervised agricultural experience program, demonstrated leadership skills and shown a commitment to the organization through involvement at the chapter level and above.
Graham FFA member Brailey Brooks won the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo Scholarship worth $20,000 and Joy also won state on Beef Entrepreneurship Proficiency.
Texas FFA Scholarships are presented through a competitive selection process and academic scholarships are awarded annually at the convention. More than 140 scholarships are awarded to students.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic and FFA achievements as well as the member’s performance in an interview process.
