Graham ISD and Graham High School will graduate the Class of 2021 next week. The week will begin with a new tradition that began last year with the reverse parade and concludes Friday night with graduation at Newton Field.

The reverse parade will take place Tuesday night outside of Graham High School from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. The parade will start outside the classic gym on Calaveras St. and make a right turn on Kentucky St. and make a right turn on Brazos St. GHS Principal Joe Gordy said after a positive response from the Class of 2020, the Class of 2021 wanted an opportunity to receive support from the community in the same way.

“I think one of the things that Covid has done is that it has forced us to do some innovative things and we are going to try to keep some of those things and celebrate our kids and allow our community to celebrate our kids as we move forward,” Gordy said. “This is something we had down as tentative and then we met with our senior class officers. They felt that they and their peers wanted to experience (the reverse parade). The kids were willing to show up and be here for that. (Last year) the community was so great at supporting them, we thought we would just continue that opportunity. Last year’s seniors were really grateful to have that (...) our kids are excited about it and didn’t want to miss that opportunity because they heard so many positive stories from last year’s seniors.”
