Graham Police Department is investigating multiple cases of theft of firearms related to a spree of vehicle burglaries last Thursday.

GPD officers responded to 12 calls related to vehicle burglaries on the morning of Thursday, April 10. The vehicle burglaries occurred in the Spivey Hill area, including Mustang Drive, Fawn Trail and Chaparral Drive.

Other areas that were hit with burglaries were Oak Forrest, Thomas Lane and Rodgers Drive.

“Several of the victims reported nothing missing, but their vehicle had been rummaged through,” City Manager Eric Garretty said in a release. “Several firearms were reported missing from some vehicles, along with multiple tools and money missing from others.”

GPD is following up on leads from patrol officers over the weekend and have a suspect. Patrol officers recovered several guns that were taken from the vehicles.

The city is reminding residents to lock their vehicles, even if they are away for a short period of time.

“We would also like to remind citizens not to leave any firearm in a vehicle whether the doors are locked or not,” Garretty said. “Please take your firearms out of your vehicle and never leave them in your vehicle overnight. The last thing we want is for an officer/citizen to be hurt by a stolen firearm.”
