A Graham man died and another man was transported to United Regional hospital with minor injuries after a head-on, two-vehicle wreck Thursday in Archer County.

Joseph Michael Wood, 42, of Graham, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Wayne Lindeman, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The second driver, Spender Smith, of Polk, Neb., was transported to United Regional hospital in Wichita Falls with minor injuries.

Wood was driving a 2018 Buick passenger car south on Hwy 16 approximately 17 miles northeast of Olney and Smith was driving a 2019 Chevrolet 2500 pickup with a stock trailer north on the same road. Wood crossed over the center stripe and drove into the path of Smith which caused a head-on collision.

Wood was not wearing a seatbelt during the wreck. The wreck is under investigation by DPS.
