Ronnie Dee Arrell, 62, of Graham, was traveling north on N. Hwy. 16, at mile marker 234, when he lost control and was thrown off of his three-wheeled motorcycle. He died from his injuries on the scene of the wreck Tuesday, Sept. 10

According to a press release from DPS Sergeant Dan Buesing, Arrell was driving in a curve on his 2017 Harley Davidson Tri-Glide when he went onto a rumble strip and possibly overcorrected to get back into his lane of traffic and lost control of the motorcycle. Arrell was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained serious injuries from the wreck.

“I have two witnesses, his wife was behind him driving a pickup,” DPS Trooper John Thomas said on the scene Tuesday. “He was coming around this curb and he overcorrected, he lost his balance and it looks like the trike drug him a little bit.”

Thomas said Arrell was then thrown off the three-wheeled motorcycle before the trailer it was carrying broke off and the motorcycle came to a stop further up the bar ditch.

Thomas said Arrell was still alive when first responders were on scene, but he died before the MARC air ambulance was able to transport him. According to the press release, Arrell was transported to Graham Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 4:13 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Jason Hearne.
