Graham man dies in two-vehicle wreck Saturday on Hwy. 16 S by Thomas Drive

A two vehicle wreck on Hwy. 16 S Saturday resulted in the death of a Graham man and a Graham woman being sent to Graham Regional Medical Center.

The wreck happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, near Thomas Drive. The two vehicles involved in the wreck were a 1998 Chevrolet passenger car driven by Larry Gene Eckhardt, 64, of Graham, and a 2004 Chevrolet SUV driven by Sarah Jones, of Graham.

Jones was traveling south on Hwy. 16 and slowed to a stop to turn onto Thomas Drive, just before the Dark Canyon RV Park, according to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Eckhardt was also traveling south on Hwy. 16, which according to the release has a blind spot due to a hill in the roadway.
