The Texas Transportation Commission approved the award of approximately $1.5 million for Graham Municipal Airport during their monthly meeting on Thursday, Dec. 10. The organization approved the award of federal non-primary entitlement grant funding, federal apportionment grant funding and state grant funding for airport improvements at five Texas locations.

The Texas Department of Transportation department is authorized under the Texas Transportation Code to award federal and state funding for capital improvement projects and to assist in the development and establishment of airports in the state. The money awarded is through TxDOT’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program, which according to TxDOT preserves and improves the state’s aviation system.

According to documents from the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation District used during the Dec. 10 meeting, the federal funding for Graham will be $1,407,150, while the local share will be $156,350, for a total of $1,563,500.
