Graham Parks and Recreations release survey results

This week the Graham Parks and Recreations board released survey results on issues residents would like to see addressed in area parks.

The city of Graham received $1.3 million in June from the Brazos River Authority for the new Salt Creek Park project. The online survey asked respondents to express the direction they feel Graham should be moving with their parks system.

Of the nearly 600 respondents to the survey, the most important issues ranked were renovated restrooms and walking and hiking trails. These were followed by additional playground equipment, amphitheater (concert/festival area), bike trail, shade for playground equipment, water recreation and beach access at Lake Graham, Americans with Disabilities Act compliant surfaces, a dog park and better lighting.

The most important sporting venue needed, according to respondents, was a sand volleyball court at Lake Graham followed by basketball courts and baseball/softball fields.
