Graham Police Department apprehended a suspect in a reporting shooting at an apartment complex on Fourth Street Monday morning. The suspect, Kamron Austin Nail, 17, of Graham, surrendered and was taken into custody.

At approximately 9:38 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, GPD officers investigated a report of a shooting, according to a release from GPD. Officer Daniel Huerta conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 700 block of Carolina Street in Graham. Prior to the stop, Huerta observed the vehicle leaving an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Fourth Street.

When the vehicle came to a stop, a male subject later identified as Andrew Robert Lara, 18, of Graham, jumped out of the vehicle and told Huerta he had been shot. Huerta contacted Young County dispatch to send Graham/Young County EMS to his location. Lara was transported to Graham Regional Medical Center and was later flown to United Regional hospital in Wichita Falls. As of Monday afternoon, Lara was reported as in stable condition, according to GPD.

Officers arrived at the apartment complex on Fourth Street and learned the suspect, Nail, was potentially still inside the apartment where the shooting occurred. After a perimeter was set by responders on the scene at the complex, Young County Dispatch reported Nail had called 911 and was going to leave the apartment.

Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers were on scene and contacted Nail by phone. A surrender was choreographed and Nail surrendered to police. GPD investigators and the Texas Rangers are currently investigating the incident.
