The production of Steel Magnolias is special for Graham Regional Theatre, because it was the first play hosted at their theater on the square when it opened in 2016. The show will be returning for the first time since 2016, starting Friday, April 12 and continuing for four weekends at The Perry theater.

The play by Robert Harling takes place at Truvy’s salon in Chinquapin, La., where neighborhood women gather and share stories, gossip and style their hair. When tragedy hits the community, the women come together and develop a closer bond of friendship.

“This show gives you a lot of clues about what their lives are like outside of this space and the lines and what happens within this space reflect that and really shows the different growth from each character and how they go through the changes that happen,” he said. “It is a beautiful show, and I never get tired of it.”

Steel Magnolias will be at The Perry theater Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. from Friday, April 12 until Sunday, May 5. For more information on GRT and their season, visit http://grahamregionaltheatre.com.
