Graham Regional Theatre set the stage for their 2019-2020 performance schedule over the weekend, announcing 15 events for the organization’s upcoming season.

This year, GRT has four musicals on their schedule which are the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in April and Winnie the Pooh Kids, Frozen Jr. and Into the Woods in June.

Finding a show

GRT Director Christian Sanders said when he looks at the schedule for the upcoming year, he has slots based on audience response and turnout, along with feedback received on Facebook or their website.

“For every slot, I will go through and pick out several shows that I think might work there and I will consult with the (GRT) board the entire time,” he said. “I am always looking at shows, but when I sit down to actually do it takes me two or three months to figure out what might work best.”

Sanders looks at how shows can translate as far as set design to limit the construction needed for new sets on the next production. He designates certain slots for productions based on a theme, one of which is classics.
