The Graham Rotary Club presented North Central Texas College with an endowment scholarship of $13,500 Tuesday at their weekly meeting held at NCTC, donating toward the continuing education of area students.

The endowment money was raised from the Rotary Club Duck Derby sponsorships. Rotary Club President Pam Scott said the club has noticed the importance of the campus for the community.

“Education is of great importance to our community,” she said. “I think Rotary and the Rotary board members have acknowledged that in a lot of different ways. We are excited that we are meeting at NCTC, so we really are in correspondence with them in a lot of different ways and just coming in and seeing them and seeing what they are doing, just kudos to those who have been involved getting NCTC here. We love the partnership with our community and we love what they are doing with the students.”

Scott said the board made the decision this year to donate to the NCTC endowment fund because of the success of their Duck Derby event and the fund will continue to make a lasting impression.

“It’s a reoccurring scholarship, so it’s a great thing for our club and it will benefit many people down the road that we will be able to witness the success they will have with the great opportunities that they have been given,” she said.

The donation was accepted by NCTC Foundation Executive Director Brian Manhart who thanked the organization for the continued efforts to benefit students and staff at the campus in Graham.
