A Graham woman, who escaped custody Sunday night after being transported from the Young County Jail to Graham Regional Medical Center, was captured following a search.

Isamar Rose Strider, 29, of Graham, was arrested Sunday for public intoxication and was later transported to GRMC from the Young County Jail. She ran from GRMC and was captured in a separate location, following a search from GPD and the Young County Sheriff’s Office.

GPD Officer David Lipsey conducted a pedestrian stop at approximately 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 in the 900 block of Texas Street in Graham, according to a release from GPD Chief Brent Bullock. The pedestrian, later determined to be Strider, was walking down the wrong side of the roadway on Texas Street.

“Upon approach and from speaking with the female, Officer Lipsey observed that she appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant or controlled substance,” Bullock wrote in the release. “(...) While speaking, Strider was rambling and speaking without making sense. Due to Strider having contact with law enforcement in the past, Officer Lipsey knew this was not her normal demeanor.”
