The Graham Regional Medical Center Board of Directors agreed to an offer, Monday, Nov. 11, for the purchase of its home health and hospice department which it placed for sale Thursday, Sept. 5. The board also voted to enter into final negations regarding the department.

The board of directors met in a special called meeting at 9 a.m. Monday where they immediately entered into an executive session regarding the deliberation of purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property.

When the board returned from the executive session, they made two motions regarding the department.

“I move to accept the offer to purchase home health and hospice subject to final negotiations of mutually agreed upon transactions and documents,” Board Member Dr. Donald Behr said.

Board member, Jon Garvey, made the second motion to give GRMC CEO, Shane Kernell, the ability to negotiate and finalize negations and documents for presentation to the board for final approval of the sale of the department. Both motion passed 6-0.

Kernell said no further information could be provided about the sale of the department as the negotiations continue between attorneys.
